Vacancy for R workshop facilitator

The Science Postgraduate Support Group (SciPS) offers training of a generic nature for postgraduate students, researchers and members of staff within all of the science schools at the University of Sussex. Training consists of 2-3 hour workshop sessions held throughout the academic year with most workshops running at least once per term. They are looking for a workshop facilitator who is capable of designing and running a two-hour workshop to help postgraduate science students learn to use the programming language R. The facilitator is expected to draw upon his / her experience to provide practical help and advice for all aspects of the process. The workshop will cater to postgraduate students from all scientific disciplines, therefore the facilitator must have the ability to use non-subject-specific examples.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced R user and able to apply their knowledge across different platforms. The ability to demonstrate how R works with other languages/applications is also an advantage. You should be a skilled communicator with a desire to teach others and share expertise and experience with postgraduate science students. Teaching experience is desirable, as is being a current Science postgraduate researcher or student at the University of Sussex.

Please send your CV with a covering letter specifying your hourly rate, and give an outline of the workshop you propose to facilitate to Paolo Oprandi:
